AI literacy, drawn out: how AI works and how to use it well
Understand AI instead of just using it. See how machines learn from examples, why chatbots sometimes make things up, how to write a good prompt and what to keep private. Each lesson takes 5 to 6 minutes, ends with a quick game and needs no maths or code.

Hi, I'm Noor from Lumen Lab. I'll show you what happens inside AI, step by step, and then you get to try it yourself. No hype, no doom: just how it works, what it's good at and where you still need your own judgement.

Questions people ask
Do I need maths or coding to understand AI?
No. Every idea is explained with pictures, everyday examples and small games, such as training a tiny model or guessing the next word like a chatbot does. If you can use a phone, you can follow along.
Is it free?
Yes. Every lesson is free to use, with no sign-up, no trial and no paywall.
What age is this AI literacy course for?
It is written for anyone from about 12 up: teens, parents, teachers and office workers. Younger children can do the lessons together with an adult. Teachers can use a lesson as a quick class starter because it runs in any browser.
Is this suitable for AI literacy training at work (EU AI Act)?
It can be a useful part of it. The EU AI Act asks organisations that provide or use AI to take measures that support their staff's AI literacy. Since a July 2026 amendment it expressly requires no guaranteed level, course or certificate. These lessons cover the basics; add training on your own tools, policies and risks.
Which AI tools does the course teach?
None in particular. The lessons use Lumi, an invented assistant, so the ideas stay true whichever chatbot or image tool you use: how prediction works, how to check answers and what not to share.
