Spyware
Spyware is malware that secretly watches what you do on a device, such as your messages, location, keystrokes or browsing, and sends it to someone else.
Spyware can arrive inside free apps or fake updates, or be installed by someone with access to your device. Keyloggers, which record what you type, are one kind.
Signs include a fast-draining battery, unknown apps with wide permissions, and settings changed without you.
Keep your device updated and locked, review app permissions, and remove apps you don't recognise.
